Antalya & Olympos : My 1st encounter with Mediterranean Sea
|
|
No words can truly describe the beauty of Allah's creation.. the panoramic view of the Mediterranean Sea.. It was breath-taking splendour. Subhanallah..
From Antalya, we made our way to Olympos. The secluded pebble beach.. this was another treat! Superbly magnificient... My jaw fell open with awe.. Truly beautiful..
*This photo is taken by Metehan Sonbahar = the best host ever!!
Evidently (from the photos!!), my trip to Antalya was absolutely different experience.. Hot weather, magnificient seaside and of course, the peaceful life...

Ankara, a place closest to home..
|
|
Our next destination was Ankara, Mete's and Alperen's hometown. We took a train from Istanbul train station and Ankara was just 7 hours away, but it actually took 9hours of a very long and boring journey. From Ankara's train station, Mete's younger brother, Bilge picked us up then took us to their lovely crib. Aunt Asiye (Mete's mom) and Uncle Ismail (Mete's dad) were waiting for us. Had a very late dinner.. then straight to bed. And I got the best room in the house; magnificient scenery from the terrace.. you can see almost the whole central ankara from the terrace.
*Night view from Mete's terrace.. how could you leave THIS for UK, Mete??
The next morning, Mete's mom prepared such a BIG breakfast (yup it was really big.. i mean it) and it was great!! Then we made our way to the old city of Ankara; went up to Kale, got 'Nazar' bracelet from Mete's mom, and bought eşarp (tudung ler..) for myself and some friends' requests. From there, we continued our trip to the cheap bazaar to get some çay cups (Turkish small tea cups).
Then, Mete took us to AltinPark where his mom gave us a treat of another Turkish dish; Güzleme. It was really nice and tasty. *Thanks Aunt Asiye!* The interior decor of the cafe was really interesting; inspired by traditional Turkish ascent.
For the rest of the day, we decided to have fresh cherries in Uncle Ismail's old clinic (in the back garden) then went to meet Alperen's curious mom who happened to be quite intrigued to meet us; me and jay. Then it was more tea and some bürek for tea.. had dinner at Mete's house (it was special menu, requested by Jay, a Turkish dish which is similar to one of Korean's).. then a live football match between Turkey and Greece.. The day ended with a terrific and tasty dessert; rice pudding.. haaa.. i'm happy and same goes with my tummy.. *there goes my diet!!*
My verdict : Ankara reminds me of Kuala Lumpur.. felt really close to home..

Istanbul : discovered
|
|
My trip to Türkiye (according to the native's spelling) begins in Istanbul; the hustling and bustling capital city, the bridge between 2 continents and the key to the country's history.
From Constantinople during Byzantine, then Istanbul from Ottoman (Uthmaniyyah) till now, this place doesn't seem to fail to impress the foreign visitors and also fellow Turks. Istanbul is truly magnificient, in terms of land, architecture and also the people itself.
Nevertheless, Istanbul is still another metropolis; too crowded with people, cars and high-rise structures. Personally, I have to admit that I am attracted to Istanbul by its culture, the clash between the east and the west, and also the preserved history of various giant empires; Romans, Byzantine and Ottoman (Uthmaniyyah).
So, do enjoy the photos; taken by an amateur using not so hype digi camera..

7 May 2005 : Took the train to Hayes & Harlington, somewhere around 2.50pm. Arrived in Hayes at 3.20pm, waited for Kak Aby and Syamim at the Hayes station. From there, went to Pak Njang's house. Spent the night and had 'kurma ayam', 'sambal terung' and 'tauhu'.. *hmmm.. sedapnye!!* for dinner.
8 May 2005 : Took a short tour around Hayes with Syamim, Pak Njang, Izat and Kak Aby. Bought 'Mother's Day' flowers for Mak Njang and Wan. Helped Kak Aby with packing and went to the nearest park for a 'last-minute' photo shoot. Sent Kak Aby to Heathrow together with Pak Njang, Syamim and Izat. By the way, I had 'nasi tomato' for lunch and 'tosai' for breakfast.. yummy!!
9 May 2005 : Went to Slough with Mak Njang, Pak Njang, Syamim and Wan. Bought some cheap things from Poundland and 99p shop. Got a chocolate bar from Wan, and a warm grandma's kiss on the cheeks.. *shuckkss!!* (missnye kat Tok Mak and Tok Bak!!) From Slough train station, took a train back to Reading..

3 good friends.. *by Nadya Shahabudin*
|
|
She came with her 10D Canon SLR, she captured the scenes.. and this is her finest piece.. (my personal favourite!)
3 good friends
Jay : Tall Korean who is passionate about modern architecture.. 'hardworking, neat and tidy' kind of person.. friendly, caring, respectful.. (personal remark : nice hair dude!!)
Mete : Typical 'risk-taker' Turkish guy.. (no offense Mete!!).. from the 1st glimsp, he reminds you of Green Day frontman.. crazy about photography and cool cameras.. friendly, generous, funny.. (personal remark : get a hair-cut dude!!)
Siti a.k.a huda : Short & 'stout' girl from Malaysia.. loves historical architecture and crazy about magnificient buildings.. extraordinary friendly and really enjoys her 2 good friends' company..

Took the time (finally!!) to go to the Library to find some books.. Met up with Jay and his new haircut.. Then we decided to get ourselves a cup of coffee in Dol-che-Vita. well, as usual, I found some interesting shots to capture (yup, I have my digicam with me all the time *almost!!*) Girls out there, Jay is still up for grabs.. the thing is you have to be Korean.. *sigh..*
